The CfBT Education Trust delivers education services worldwide. Its aim is to provide education for public benefit. CfBT staff support educational reform, teach, advise, research and train. CfBT manages the North Lambeth EAZ and CLC strands of Excellence in Cities for Lambeth.
The CLC is part of the Excellence in Cities initiative within the Lambeth CYPS. We work closely with officers from across the service such as Building Schools for the Future, the Ethnic Minority Achievement Grant team, Standards and Inclusion, school admissions, transition teams and ICT support.

WHAT IS THE CfBT ACTION ZONE?
CfBT Action Zone is a community of 12 North Lambeth schools working together to improve children’s learning through more creative teaching, a focus on arts, and involving parents.The team works across both the EAZ and CLC initiatives.
Set up as part of the government’s Excellence in Cities initiative the EAZ works in three priority areas:

On March 22 Lambeth CLC worked with the BBC on its nation-wide School News Report project. BBC journalists were sent to three Lambeth schools to support Year 8 pupils who became reporters for a day. The work - in the form of print, audio and video reports were displayed on the web later that day. Go to www.bbc.co.uk/schoolreport to view more about the project. Pupils have made extensive use of their Presspack site for accessing tutorials on journalism skills.

Gateway is a state of the art music technology centre based in Clapham. They have over 25 years experience in education in sound engineering, music production, multimedia and the music industry.
Gateway provides a range of courses for everyone from young people to professionals seeking to improve their skills, and are part of the management committee of Lambeth CLC.
The Science Museum is one of the foremost London museums and work closely with Lambeth schools through the EAZ and CLC. Projects range from training pupils to present science investigations, to nights in the museum and days out for pupils on London’s canals.

The English National Opera is working with the CLC and award winning web designers Illumina Digital to create a unique interactive website demonstrating the work involved in producing an opera. The project, sponsored by Playstation and linked to the Opera’s production of La Boheme, engaged students in podcasting, creating gaming content, filming and blogging. The results will be available as a resource for schools across the country.

The Poetry Library is the most comprehensive and accessible library of poetry in the UK. Based at the Royal Festival Hall, it has a strong education department and runs a rolling programme of events encouraging poetry reading and writing.
