Parents are lent laptops over a six week course aimed at absolute beginners. Tutors work with the parents and their children once a week, introducing them to multimedia programs that involve photography, scanning and presentations. Printers, cameras and scanners are loaned out in rotation and shared by the group.
The CLC linked with King’s College to provide an accredited ICT course as a follow-up to the library project, so parents moved seamlessly into a college environment and online course. Not only have parents moved from little or no knowledge of ICT, but the project has had a huge impact on the group socially, with parents now firm friends.
