    Visualisers - what are visualisers?

Visualisers (also known as document cameras) are video cameras functioning as overhead projectors but without the acetate. Visualisers can project sheets of paper, magazines, or maps as well as small 3D objects onto a plasma screen, television, projector or monitor. Their moveable arms allow for changing angles and they can project, for instance, images of hands demonstrating piano keys. More sophisticated models also allow for the recording of images.

More information about document cameras and the different functions which teachers found of great benefit below.
    • Displaying text, 2 and 3D objects on a large screen
    • Zoom function enabling small objects to be viewed by a large group. Examples include mini-beasts becoming six foot and children's art work being displayed on a seven- foot screen
    • Live demonstrations of practical subjects such as soldering in DT, condensation in science, paint mixing in Art
    • Easy switching of inputs: visualiser/computer/ video
    • Digital capture of still images - recording annotations, storage for student e-portfolio
    • Digital capture of video - recording processes
    • Split screen function allowing object displays and text recording in real time.
