BBC SCHOOL REPORT

Lilian Baylis Technology School

  1. Lilian Baylis Pupils Become Mobile Citizens for the BBC

Lilian Baylis Year 8 pupils today ran a pilot for the BBC news day. 8G spent the morning as reporters gathering the day’s stories and putting together a radio broadcast for the school’s tannoy system and website. Everyone had a role to play - researching, making editorial decisions about which stories to run, and writing and presenting the final broadcast, all for the 2 o’clock deadline.

Just to make the day more challenging the school decided to pilot using new technology to gather news. Pupils used their mobiles to take photos, record and film and then sent the files to the editing team using bluetooth technology. You can hear the final version here, and on the BBC news website: www.bbc.co.uk/news.
