This year's animation festival included work from 16 Lambeth schools - both animations and other shorts produced by students in various schools. Following an INSET attended by the key teachers and teaching assistants, schools chose different models for their film production. Some worked pretty much independently, with brief support visits from the CLC team or animators. Others prepared their artwork and came into the centre to produce the whole film in a day. For others, two professional animators worked with small groups of pupils independently over time.
All the films culminated in a trip for the pupils to see their own work on the big screen at either Clapham Picture House or the Ritzy Cinema in Brixon. Schools shared their experiences of making their films in joint screenings, and all enjoyed watching their own films alongside professional animations.
Professional animators and filmmakers have been enlisted to help teachers and other school staff support pupils with their creations. To see the type of films made , click on the animations shown:
I have never seen the children so excited by a project in all my years teaching.
